Description: The longitudinal boundary between the Gulf of Alaska and the Aleutian Islands is designated here at Unimak Pass. In 2011, this boundary was designated at False Pass. This small change to the west acknowledges the significant ecosystem transition at the much broader and deeper Unimak Pass.The Alaskan Arctic is defined here as the eastern Chukchi Sea and the Alaskan portion of the Beaufort Sea. Thus, the Alaskan Arctic defined here is not a true, single large marine ecosystem, but is combined for geographic simplicity.
