Description: APTIM was contracted by Texas GLO to perform comprehensive high-resolution geophysical survey services along Heald and Sabine Sand Banks offshore of Texas and Louisiana. This project was conducted as a change order to the original contract between APTIM and the GLO to conduct geophysical data collection along 1-mile survey grids offshore Texas in GLO Region 1 area. OCS data collection services also include historic data review and survey planning, geophysical data processing and interpretation. This project consists of six tasks. Task 1 consisted of conducting a Historic Data Review in order to develop a survey plan/planned line file. As part of this task, APTIM conducted a search for, and analyses of, historic geologic and geophysical data available within the survey area and developed initial regional geologic models for historic sand deposition/location. Previous/historic geologic and geophysical data, marine hazard and resource data were compiled, reviewed, and incorporated into a database along with oil and gas infrastructure, benthic resources, and other sensitive/hazard areas for avoidance during the survey. The results were used as the basis to achieve maximum coverage of the sand deposits to plan for the geophysical survey that is Task 2.Task 2 of this project comprised of a geophysical reconnaissance survey that began in October 2020 and was completed in November 2020. Geophysical data collection for the OCS area consisted of acquiring single-beam bathymetry, sub-bottom profiling, sidescan sonar and magnetometer data 24 hours a day. In order to efficiently conduct this phase, APTIM had two teams of scientist working 12-hour shifts on a two-week rotation to maximize data collection efforts. A total of 1,293 nautical miles of data were collected during Task 2. The project Task 3 involves data processing and interpretation, and Task 4 will be a final report summarizing the results of the geophysical investigation. Task 5 will include a desktop review to determine potential pipeline decommissioning impacts on Significant Sediment Resource Areas (SSRAs) based on potential sand resources as shown in the geophysical data collected on the OCS. As part of Task 6, APTIM will compile a summary report discussing the results of the environmental mitigation measure exemptions granted by the BOEM in order to conduct the geophysical survey during Task 2 24-hours a day.
